The ERA Project is a law and policy think tank bridging the gap between legal scholarship and activism to advance the federal Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), state ERAs, and the broader cause of gender justice.

Introducing the first-of-its-kind model policy agenda for state ERAs

In September 2024, we launched Realizing Sex Equality: A Model Policy Agenda for State Equal Rights Amendments. This resource takes a ground-up approach to dismantling enduring forms of sex-based injustice and offers an actionable roadmap for state and local policymakers to make sex equality a reality in their jurisdictions.

Impact

  • Youth Movement-Building

The ERA Project believes that young people are fundamental to the future of constitutional gender equality, and we are proud to partner with youth-led grassroots organizations like the Young Feminist Party.

  • Strategic Policy Work

The ERA Project fosters collaboration between scholars, advocates, and elected officials by hosting and speaking at conferences that center the Equal Rights Amendment as a tactic in the broader fight for gender equality.

  • Shaping the Future of State ERAs

The federal ERA has long been part of public policy dialogue, but the ERA Project pioneered much of the dialogue around State ERAs as a tool for more localized gender equality work. This year, we are proud to launch Realizing Sex Equality, our model policy agenda for state ERAs.
